I trained firstly as a Montessori teacher and then at the Dyslexia Institute and have taught adults and children of all ages for 25 years and in addition have completed courses on Dyspraxia (including handwriting), Development of Spoken Language, Brain Gym, Neurolinguistic Programming and Educational Kinaesiology.
I am currently working within a boys' school with children aged between 5-8 years who have difficulty with reading and spelling. I have found that many parents learnt how to spell themselves but are not aware of several of the rules.
Over the years, many parents have asked me if there is a book which would explain the rules to them, so I decided to put together a simple parents' guide so that they can help their children out when they struggle with spelling.
